It was a cloudless night. Billions of stars could be seen against the dark blue sky. You could feel the wind through your hair and smell the exotic spices in the air.
I can show you the world, shining, shimmering, splendid, tell me, princess--INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT! THERE IS AN INTRUDER IN THE BUILDING. SECURITY HAS BEEN NOTIFIED! INTRUDER ALERT!
I opened my eye and peaked at the clock. 12:04 am. I knew my hair was a mess and my face pale without any makeup. I grabbed my robe, my phone and my keys, hurrying downstairs to shut off the alarm. I didn't worry too much about the international students since many (most?) of them were on jet lag (up to 12 hours: from Asia) anyway.
The guilty party? No, it was not a robber. No, it wasn't two young lovers sneaking out after a long summer apart. It was a boy opening the door for another boy, who had just gotten to campus from the airport. I guess traveling across the country causes one to forget about alarmed doors!
I hope I can resume my lovely dream tonight.
