A neosporin kind of day.

Today has been one of those days where everything seems to be going wrong--and we barely made it through half the day!

First, I burned my right hand making tea: I was pouring the excess boiling water into a dirty pan that needed a good soak when suddenly the top popped off and the steam scorched my last two knuckles. They hurt all morning, but they are looking better.

Then, my gift from Matthew came in the mail and he ran to get it from building services. He must have stepped on a razor blade because when he came home, his foot had a nice 1 inch long bleeding gash in it. It's a beautiful new watch, but I guess he needs new sandals.

Immediately after that, I attempted to activate our new phone with our new service provider (same phone number), but I accidentally signed up for the most expensive plan. I know, I know. How did that happen? It was maddening trying to fix my error and get out of the charge and deal with automated recordings.

I had to run some errands: smores ingredients for our camping trip (a non-negotiable), and a day planner for the school year. Matthew told me to stay home lest I get into a fiery car crash. I took my chances and came back safely. To reward myself on preserving my life, I had a bowl of ice cream.

Minutes later, Matthew, who had been sitting in his armchair reading, comes crashing forward. He is on the ground, the chair is on top of him and the desk pushed back. The same razor blade shredded foot is bleeding in two other places from the fall. Matthew requests superhero bandaids.

I apply more neosporin and bandaids, but they are so old (or cheap?) that they don't stick well enough. Out comes the adhesive tape and I've mummified Matthew's foot. There.

We need a vacation from this apartment.

  2. This day is so crummy for you it can only get better! How did Matt fall out of the chair? Fall asleep? Better in a chair then at the wheel, I guess. Hugs and kisses for all the boo-boo's! Mom
