Tuesday: Day Three

Zoo day!! Montreal has a very nice zoo with animals displayed from the four different ecosystems. It was a little smaller than we had hoped, but very fun nonetheless. If I had known it was so small, I would’ve taken more pictures, but I was “saving” my battery. We love the zoo. We’ve been to many together and I think it’s becoming a tradition.

For lunch we got yummy (and cheap!) pizza by the slice. The line was long so the pizza must have been good. Afterwards, we checked out the Quartier Latin which was our favorite place. Again, lots of vendors and cafes and shops and people—great for a little coffee and a pastry as you watched people go by! We found a candy store and bough some (duh.) Then we just happened to find a movie theatre and the Tuesday special: half priced movies! Well, since our legs needed a rest… We decided to watch “Food Inc”: a good documentary about where our food comes from (mostly meat products). We highly recommend it.

Next, we walked some more and happened to run into the square where they hold the annual Jazz Festival. Tickets were somewhere around $40/person, and since we didn’t like jazz that much, we were happy to see that some of the bands were playing outside! It was great!!

That night we had new neighbors: “Crazy Eddie” who was camping “alone” so we thought, but kept talking out loud. Rebekah thinks he was on the phone, but Matthew thinks he was talking to himself.
On the other side were “Deaf and Mute.” Unlike any other neighbor we’d met, these two didn’t make a sound. Not one. We never heard them speak or make a noise even though they often came back later than we did. That night, they sat by their fire for hours, not talking. Strange.

We slept well that night, thankfully.
