I had asked for the smallest and cheapest corsage they could make. This is what I got....
Bus 7:
Here we are!
Us with Sarah and her boyfriend:
Prom was at "the Grand Marquis," which was more Gaudy than Grand, but that's just my opinion. From the website:
The tables were decorated with a casino theme: black, white, red colors, poker chips and playing cards everywhere. There was a photo booth and poker tables in the back. Kids danced for 4 hours, easily. There was dancing before dinner, during dinner and after dinner. And the music was fun and upbeat, not so much the nasty grinding type rap. Loud though, but that's because we are fuddy duddies.
There were about 10 or 12 chaperones and we really didn't do much except sit around and shout at each other across the table. Dinner was nice: pasta, steak, chicken, mashed potatoes, asparagus, and carrots. Kids liked the "mocktails" and looked grown up sipping through their red straws. For dessert, there were snow cones, cotton candy and a COLDSTONE BAR!!! Wow.
Some bored chaperones. See the centerpiece?Aside from that, it was kind of boring. Maybe because it wasn't our prom, maybe because it didn't seem like anything different from regular school dances: just at a different location and a dinner. Girls were still done up, everyone danced, everyone was on Facebook on their phones.
I definitely prefer my high school banquet: there was a program with songs and dances and speeches and funny stuff. There was dinner and entertainment and pictures. No one had cell phones--we were all present in the moment, getting all emotional about going our separate ways. But I wonder what BFA is like today, with cell phones and wireless internet. iPhones ruin everything.
We got home after midnight (I fell asleep in the bus) and it took a while to get settled for bed, but it felt so nice to crawl into the comfy blankets. So tired...
And then at 12:45 am the intruder alarm went off and startled us. Someone forgot to "fob out" before opening the door. Sheesh.

iphones ruin everything? My, you ARE a fuddy-duddy!! You both looked gorgeous, wrong pants and all. Too bad you fell asleep at the wheel of that bus...hehe. I love the statement that all you did was shout across the table at each other! Made me laugh! BFA was unique....just no comparison, I guess. I would LOVE to have a copy of the picture of you two posing in front of that painting...please? Can't wait to see you! Mom
