- Cenotes are underground fresh water pools. Because much of the east part of Mexico is made up of limestone, it caved in and created beautiful hidden pools. Mayan cities were built around them since water was so scarce inland. The Mayans also believed cenotes were gateways to the afterlife so they threw valuables into them. We didn't find anything.
- Coba was our favorite archaeological site because you could climb on everything, including the biggest (and steepest!) pyramid. The Mayans had a lot of human sacrifices, so a lot of skulls depicted everywhere.
- Not falling off of the pyramid.
Matthew jumping into a deep cenote:
Coba:
Below: a Mayan ball game (other half of court directly facing, and identical) where teams would have to get a ball through the hoop without using their hands OR feet!! And yes, they had to run up the slanted stone. Makes basketball seem easy, right?
Lowlights:
- Having to take a cold shower (outside) before going down the caves to swim in the cenotes.
- Looking ridiculous going up the stairs on the pyramid (on all fours) then going down the steep stairs (at least I didn't go down on my butt!)

Looks fun and I love the video! I'd actually heard of that ancient Mayan game before - I saw it on a cartoon. Aren't I cultured?! :)
