Beach boy

We *finally* took Kent to the beach yesterday. It was supposed to be 65 and sunny, but it ended up being warm-ish, sunny-ish and a little bit windy. It didn't matter. We just had to go.

Kent loved the sand and the shells. It didn't surprise me because he already had a habit of digging in the sand with a variety of sticks and parts of seashells. The seagulls pick up shells and drop them on our driveway to crack them open. Then they eat the sea creature inside. Our driveway is permanently littered with broken shells. Sometimes I wonder if Kent thinks they are chalk because he writes with the fragmented shells. Maybe he just likes the sound and vibrations.

First he had fun just running free and feeling the sand under his feet and in his hands.

Then he heard a plane. He lets me know every time.
Here's a little video of his first impressions. I love how he says "wawa"!
Exploring gravity.
It didn't take him long to want to check out the waves. He wasn't even that scared of them.
He went in and out over and over again with delighted squeals. He was perfectly content to splash around until he went in too deep (trying to retrieve a ball) and must have tripped because he did a face plant in the shallow water. When Matt picked him up, he had the saddest cry face - totally drenched and salty. It reminded me of his first experience with water last May:
Glad he changed his mind because I see a lot of beach time in our future :)

  1. The boys are going to love being beach bums together this summer! I think my favorite part of the videos was Kent's very determined little waddle-run. ADORABLE! Can't wait to see you all!

  2. I loved the video clips! Made me feel like I was there. It was so cute to see Kent pat the water with his hands. He is definitely a water baby! Love it!! Big hugs from Nana.
