Day trip

Yesterday, we took a day trip to Falmouth, in the Cape. It was a glorious day - bright blue cloudless skies and about 50 degrees.
We didn't have an agenda, except to explore and let Kent walk and play at the same time. I was smart enough to bring lots of food for him. But just as we parked, I saw a French bakery. As soon as we opened the door, it was like we were in France. The smells were right on. I got a pain au chocolat and Matt got a baguette. Kent ate some of the middle part, which he loved. He also happily waved to everyone around him, unprompted. I regret not taking any pictures, but we were stuffing our faces, so who could blame me??
On Main Street, there was a big grassy area in front of the library.
Behind the library was the biggest and nicest school playground I've ever seen. The whole thing was filled with woodchips and made from fake wood - so no rotting and no splinters!
Kent still loves swings.

He hears every plane!
 Back to his sensory experience.
Along Main Street, there were specialty shops, book stores, chocolate & candy stores, restaurants and boutiques. Many were closed because it was Sunday, but we still wouldn't have spent much time in them with a curious and active toddler.... Someday, maybe.

We were told there was a boardwalk that went along the ocean, but we never found it. We saw a tow path along a canal, and we found the actual beach, so that was alright. Kent loved stomping on the shells.
He picked up shells and gave them to us.
He also enjoyed scooping up sand with a tiny shell and pouring it out. Everything miniature for those tiny fingers.
We ended up at a diner. And then Kent roared because he heard "dino" Hahah!! Neither Matt nor I were all that hungry from the French bread, oh well. Kent surprised us my coloring his placemat. He had two colors in each hand and scribbled really well all over.
Then he continued his work of art in pointillism.
What a fabulous day!

  1. Sounds like a fun time! So glad you got to enjoy the great outdoors with some milder temperatures. Kent is such a happy engaging little guy. I wonder if you will go there again this summer with the Butterfields. I'll share these great pics with Minnie. Big Hugs, Nana
