Growing!

Kent outgrew his first outfit (at least the first one we've noticed). :(

We went to the doctor's for his first wellness check up. He is 1 month and 9 days.
Here are his stats:
Height: 22.75 inches = 75th percentile
Weight: 9 lbs 8.5 oz = 25th percentile

I was really surprised by the weight since he consistently eats every two hours during the day, and wakes up twice for night feedings. I won't let myself feel bad about this, because I know he'll fatten up eventually. Another appointment in three weeks!

His skinny thighs might be the culprit for our cloth diaper fail this weekend: we went through all four of our smallest diaper covers and plenty of inserts!! Part of the problem might also be learning how to fit them properly.... We'll try again!

Back to the eating thing... Kent eats very frequently, but not that long. He'll often be done around 10 minutes on each side, especially in the night: he'll sigh (so cute!), swallow and close his mouth tightly and he's off to dreamland again. If I leave him on longer during the day, he'll just suckle away and end up falling asleep. Setting him down, or diaper changes will wake him, but he doesn't act hungry afterwards. Could he be a light eater, or am I not giving him enough calories? I'll try to fatten him up, just like the wicked witch in Hansel and Gretel.

  2. Was your pediatrician worried? Henry hovered at the 17th percentile for weight for the longest time but we were assured not to worry. I'm sure Kent is doing just fine! Maybe he's got your super fast metabolism :)
