Why do you ask?
Last year, this town was under 5 feet of water. For close to a week, the water was undrinkable and there was a ban on flushing toilets and showering. Businesses really took a hit with all of the water damage. Thankfully, Irene was just before school started.
Sandy is not so timely. Our school is going to make a decision tomorrow about whether to close the school and allow students to go home, or not. My dorm supe, Sarah, thinks we should. She was here with Irene and remembers how tough it was. With 350 kids and a no ban on flushing, things could get ugly fast, whereas she was able to make the rounds in the dorm bathrooms over the week. Convient, unless you have a dorm full of girls (and I don't even want to think about the boys' dorms!!).
I stayed CLEAR away from all stores: there's no way I would want to face the crazies in the parking lot, in the stores cart to cart, or in the mile-long lines. I've already heard awful stories. So since water is still good to drink, I filled every bowl, pitcher and tupperware I had!
I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, I'm glad I'm in a safer brick building than last year's tin can.

Woah. Aren't you smart to stock up on water. Hope your food situation is good too as I assume the cafeteria will be closed when the school closes!! Love you, Mom
