By now, everyone knows that Plan A didn't work out: my long weekend trip to visit Matt's family was cancelled due to car trouble and risks too great to venture out on an 8 hour trip alone, in the boonies. Soooo, after a rough afternoon, I decided to stop letting it upset me and ruin the rest of what is supposed to be a fun 4 days.
Instead, I reflected on what else I could do with this time and decided I would tackle the things I never get around to doing such as.....
--clean the floors (under/behind couch, bed, shelves)... HA! that's my last priority!!
--finish sewing my advisee's gift (totebags)
--get back in touch with friends via email/phone calls
--watch a movie?
--make freezer meals (since mine from the summer are dangerously low)
--sleep in
--Christmas shopping? or at least brainstorming
--study for my CDL
And that's what I did on this gorgeous day: the bright yellow, red and fiery orange is awesome against the gray stone building's on the university campus! I sat on a bench and finished reading sections 1-4 (61 pages), then I took the practice test. I thought for sure I had failed, but I passed by a mere 83%. I definitely need to study more as that's too close to failing (must pass by 80%).
After that, I have sections 10-14 to study (NOT 61 pages thank goodness). Once I feel confident enough, I will schedule my written test at the DMV, then start practice driving with our director of security around campus. I can't help but remember learning to drive with my Dad 10 years ago in a station wagon and feeling like I'd never learn to parallel park. I hope the bad weather holds off for a few more weeks. It would be great to get it all done before Thanksgiving break!

Proud of you that you made the best of a bad situation! Love you, Shao-Shen. dad
