Boots!

I got my first pair of boots this week. I've wanted boots for a long time, but I hate to be rushed in these kind of "big" purchases, especially if they're trendy in any way. Since I was so busy with school last year, I just never took the time to shop around for a good deal. Plus, if I wait and still want something, then I know it's not just a whim... but that I actually do want them!

So here they are!

Ok, that's enough pictures.

And once I had them, I thought: oh no! I have nothing to wear with them. I was NOT about to spend another $30 for skinny jeans... my jeans didn't fit inside of the boots and outside of them looked just awful. So, dilemma.

That's when I thought: can I make skinny jeans? I bought a denim sewing needle (shoe and fabric store were in the same complex) and went home to do my experiment: I took an old pair of jeans that I didn't wear much--why? I thought the flared bottom was too "flare-y" and I sewed them up!

I immediately ran downstairs to ask my dorm-girls' opinion: does it look tacky? Can you tell they are not "real" skinny jeans? Their response: wow! Your leg looks longer in the skinny pant!
And here's the finished product, minus the boots.
And since then, I've altered two other skirts that I rarely wear (because of the fit), but that will go great with the new boots. So aside from the needle expense, I feel like I have a whole new wardrobe because I'm wearing skirts that I've been ignoring! Yay for sewing!
