I told myself I would be so productive (i.e. write my finals), but with every gust of wind, I'm having a hard time focusing: I find myself glancing through every window, checking the trees around the parts of campus I can see. The strong wind through the windows is howling and whistling, so it's pretty spooky. Thankfully, we have power (and I think we're on a generator) and internet, so everyone is happy.
Last night, there was no study hall, but the girls all congregated into Sarah's apartment to watch the food network (cupcake wars with halloween theme) and bake cupcakes for us and the other dorms. Sarah is a cupcake master. With 4 pans and a mixer, we made over a hundred in 3 hours I think: oreo cupcakes, pumpkin pie cupcakes, and s'mores cupcakes. I won't saw how many we ate... It's so nice to have Sarah here in the dorm. I would not have thought to bake with the 6 girls and keep their attention away from the hurricane events.
This morning, we made all of the girls go to brunch and eat as much as they could, bringing bagels home, and filling up their water bottles with juice, etc. The cafeteria is delivering boxed dinners to us, but instead, we're going to have a homecooked meal and then a GIANT sleep over. All 6 girls will crash in Sarah's livingroom, and we'll have the 2 bedrooms. We'll be nice and cozy and together, just in case trees fall or a tornado forms (=worse case scenario).
For now, I'm going to make my last purse for my advisees and maybe clean the floors. (maybe.)
I hope my in-laws are ok and will keep their power!!!
