Sewing a little TLC
I couldn't sleep last night. One, because it was so hot, and two because my mind was distracted with a terribly long list of things to do. As I tossed and turned, Matt whispered: "can't sleep?". I felt bad: I didn't want to keep him up too. Then he said (in his best Rebekah voice): "I'm going to put the couch here, then the lamp there..."
And then I hit him with a pillow.
He was right! I was totally reorganizing our new living space in my head, color schemes and all. I guess that's what 5 years of marriage does!
Yes, we're moving to my school! My school gave us a 1 bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor of a girls' dorm. It's got a fire escape right next to our front door, so that Matt can avoid walking through the dorm. It has lots of windows and good sunlight. Rent and utilities are taken care of, but I'll be "paying" with my time (more on that later). It'll be super cozy because it's smaller than our current place.
The front door opens to the living room (where our dining room will be also). Windows line the wall to the right. The back wall (right side) has a door to the bedroom (where our queen sized bed will *just* fit with a lamp). The back wall (left side) has an opening that leads to the kitchen. The opening has a washer and dryer (stacked) HALLELUJAH!! The kitchen is as tiny as our current one, but with more counter space and fewer cupboards. Off of the kitchen is the bathroom. Storage is definitely going to be an issue, so we'll have to hang pots/pans, use half of our dishes, store stuff under our bed, etc. But, we are experts at making anything work. The apartment looks a lot like a dorm room: nasty carpeting, white cinder block walls and metal doors. It'll need a lot of TLC. And color. My school will change the flooring to hardwood, paint it the color I want, and add AC units. I am allowed to do whatever window treatment I'd like. Whoo hooo!
Praise God for answered prayer!
