We've just had our heads down, working too much. It's been a busy three (four? too tired to check) weeks since spring break. Break feels like 3 months ago, and I miss my family very much.
First of all, I'd like to ANNOUNCE that the previous dress was AN APRIL FOOL'S JOKE (thanks Matthew). He wanted to find the ugliest dress online and see if we could "trick" anyone... Sorry Mom. Thank you to those who thought "Hmm, one of these things is not like the other." There's another dress in the making, and should have been done ages ago, but I've been too busy dealing with teenagers.
Some anecdotes for you:
Story 1:
Student enters classroom and hollers in that "oh my gosh" voice: "MADAME! Someone left the window open overnight and a bird flew into our English class and crapped EVERYWHERE. There were feathers and everything!" Awe and giggles from her peers filled the classroom. Naturally, I replied "en francais!" And so the lesson for "to crap" was taught. I taught the other word too. I blame it on the dopamine from the laughter.
Story 2:
One student was sick for our chapter test first period yesterday. I'm glad she was better for the rest of her classes that day.
Story 3:
One morning, I wasn't feeling particularly rested. It was hard to wake up and I was too lazy to take a shower. I twisted half (top) of my hair into a clip and let the rest (bottom half) hang down. I curled the ends with curling iron because they were sticking straight up. That day, I got TWO compliments on my hairdo. TWO. Why on a day when I don't care?
Story 4:
I had my AP class put together a "life album" since we were talking about beauty in music and in the arts. They were to choose a song from their childhood, one that motivates them, one that calms them, one that reminds them of a terrible memory and one from a great memory. One girl chose Brittney Spears' "Hit me baby one more time" as her childhood song. I was in high school.
