I'd like to thank my mom-in-law Pat for keeping her sewing machine even after she replaced it with a newer model.
Then to my sister-in-law Kara for donating the machine to better pastures, ie a garage sale.
A shout out to my other sister-in-law Corrie for picking it up and bringing it here when you visited in early February.
Credit to my sister Sarah for inspiring me to be more creative! Her etsy store is awesome.
I'd like to thank my hubby for all of the chores he did and space he gave me as I practiced and poured over each of my projects. And also for humoring me and my endless trips to the fabric store, always coming home with something.
Let's not forget my mom Jan who is the best cheerleader, even with an April fool's joke.
And all the men in the family--you're cool too!
What's with the glare? In the bathroom, I find darker lighting so you can see the turquoise better.
Here's a close up of the front: it overlaps and then there's a horizontal piece that connects the top to the skirt. There's an invisible zipper on the side (= headache!), but it turned out eventually.
I didn't make the dress in a day. It took several days and plenty of undoing, redoing, pinning, trying on, undoing, redoing, etc, because I didn't have a pattern. I traced the top from a shirt I own and made it sleeveless, then I traced the width and length of the skirt from another dress. After wearing it to school today, I've decided to shorten it by an inch or inch and a half. But I'm happy with it! :)

BEST dress indeed!!! Formidable! I want one!!!
