Last week, we found out that we aren't going to retain this wonderful little home, which means we have until June 30th to be outta here. We are 4 families that are in the same situation, all friends, all part of the same graduate Christian fellowship. At women's group, that was everyone's prayer request. I'm confident that God will provide a roof over our heads and some level of stability, even if that means a little bit of chaos (moving more than once, living out of a suitcase, living with friends or friends of friends, getting a storage unit, losing some money). Apartments run from $1200 to $1500 easily.
And then someone mentioned renting a large house and sharing it.
We laughed! And then we stopped and actually considered it. Since everyone loves our town and one of the two partners is tied to the university for 1-2 more years, why not? Many of us couples share one car, which is fine because walking and biking are so easy here and now. To live farther away, one spouse would have to drop the other off at school, then continue to work, and do the pick up run. If we lived just beyond the wooden fences that mark graduate student housing... hmmm. Could it work? Would we kill each other? Is anyone besides us actually seriously open to the idea?
We'll have to see....
