That's not an evil laugh. That's a success laugh!!!
I wore my green dress to school yesterday because it was 93 degrees--yikes!--and I promised myself I wouldn't say a word about my outfit, just to see if people reacted. I was a little nervous wearing it, even with my "hip" straw-colored belt. First period, one of my very wealthy students who wears only high end clothes walked past me into my classroom and said "cute dress!".
At lunch, my staff and faculty friends guessed right even before I got to the table. They were impressed by my bias tape!
That same afternoon, another student asked "Is that a Lilly Pulitzer dress?" My jaw dropped and I answered "Wow! I'm honored! But no, it's a -enter my last name here- dress!" Then her jaw dropped! Ha!
After school, I was talking with my colleague about recent crafts and she said "oh, but you didn't make that" and I said "yes I did!"
Needless to say, I was thrilled with the compliments and I'm thankful that other people don't see me as walking around in a tablecloth... The compliments got me so pumped that I went home and started working on a different dress with material I've had for weeks now. I've done half of it, but I need to put in a zipper. Don't know how to do that, so a friend is coming over to help. She's a professional, so that's good. My only fear is that she'll tell me that I should not have started that way and I'll have to undo some to make the zipper work...
