Hello Yellow!

We took the plunge and we PAINTED!! It's hard to tell in the picture, but it's called "Vintage Yellow" and it's slightly darker than most yellows. Please avoid thinking "banana" or "mustard" or "lemon" or "sunflower" because it's not. Instead, it is beautiful. Just beautiful. So beautiful that I can't stop staring at the walls.

I fell in love with painting and I'm itching to paint our other two rooms and the bathroom. Painting is so liberating. At least for me, the perfectionist. Sure, it took me a 3 days to pick the exact yellow I wanted, and it took me a while to set up the paint and brushes and drop cloth and chair and damp cloth and music... and in the end, I just had to put that brush to the wall. Wow. So. Much. Fun. The trim around the baseboards, windows, doors and outlets were slow and tricky, but not as bad as the line at the ceiling. GAH!! Frustrating. After that, it was a breeze and I LOVED using the huge roll brush. So fun.

"They" say to paint the letters W or M. I did and thought, "look! the golden arches".

Here are more pictures around 5pm. The walls look very pale and bright in the setting sun.

Here's what the walls look like this morning on a cloudy day.

I think everyone should paint. It adds SO MUCH to each room, whereas before with my white walls, I was trying to put up picture frames and "stuff" on the walls to make the room feel better and look nicer. With paint, there's less need to put up stuff because the walls look great on their own! Amazing!

"We all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine..."
