The good news is that the Lord knows what will happen next.
I was running late because I was debating whether to use the GPS or the Google directions--they were in conflict with each other and making me all stressed out. I kept driving and driving and when there were only a few more turns, I screamed out "Oh my gosh!! I'm totally lost! This looks nothing like the school! I can't believe I'm going to be late to my inter--oh wait! I'm here!" :) It's a good thing that I didn't stop and call the school, admitting to them that I was lost, when I was just around the corner....
I spoke with the French teacher for about 1.5 hours which was great. She was really warm and friendly and her French was beautiful (as it should be for a native born). Her speech was so smooth compared to mine and even though I was trying not to focus too much on that, I failed and I forgot the word "middle school". Can you believe it?!? It was great to hear details about her teaching methods and activities and she seemed satisfied with my explanation of my methods. The position would involve teaching French 3 and 3 honors, and AP. The fourth level is taught by someone else and the beginner levels by yet another teacher.
The dean came to get me and brought me to her office for the rest of the interview, which only lasted about 30 minutes (with another dean). This is where things started to get more nerve wrecking. This is where you kick yourself in the rear (afterwards, on the way home) with all of these second thoughts: 'I should've this and I should've that,' or 'oh no I forgot to say this or that'...
They didn't ask me what I expected like, "tell us more about yourself;" "what do you know about our school;" "why do you want to be a part of our faculty and community;" "what are your goals," etc... Instead, they asked me about my experience at CBA outside of the classroom (like chaperoning) and about missions trips that I've participated in from high school. Looking back, I see what they were up to: trying to find out if I'd make a good fit with their highly involved community service oriented school, and where else my skills and interests would be beneficial to them. So no, I didn't say everything that I could've or that I meant to. They also didn't give me the chance to ask questions either, which I thought was rude. Hhrumpf!
They'll be in touch with me by the middle of next week. If I get selected for a second interview, I'd meet more people, including students. :)
Like I said before, it's all in God's hands now. I did what I did and now let the waiting begin.
Thanks again for all your prayers and words of encouragement. I really appreciate it!
