At least the play was free.

Friday night, Matt and I joined a few other couples for dinner before going to a French play. Last semester, they put on "The Miser" (L'avare) by Moliere. It was super duper awesome. The students were very gifted in theatre, and many of them were Canadian, French, or had a native French speaking parent.

This time, however, there were younger students playing the parts and their French was 'comme-ci, comme-ca'. Plus, the play was Corneille's "L'illusion Comique" and just not that interesting. And for some reason, they always hold these plays in the smallest theatre on campus, so we were all crammed in, sitting in terrible seats behind some undergrads whose attendance brought them bonus 'culture points'. But they probably couldn't follow well. I couldn't follow well because of the heavy accent and the hard-to-understand-play-script. Oh well. I found my grocery list in my back pocket and started brainstorming for my lesson plan on the back of it. The structure is done, and all I have to do is find the text I'll use. Normally, I tease Matthew about having two to three writing utensils in his pockets. This time I didn't.
We left after the second act.
