At work, I wear many hats--not literally (although out of boredome I have tried on a few), but figuratively.
I'm cash register operator.
I'm a straightener and folder of clothing.
I'm a checker of the fitting rooms.
I'm a customer service giver.
I'm a phone operator.
I'm a stocker of merchandise.
I'm an organizer of drawers.
I'm a personal shopper for those well-to-do customers.
I'm a baker (treats during non-pay weeks).
I'm a restaurant advice giver
I'm a direction explaner.
And today, I'm a keeper of justice.
That's right: for about 90 minutes I played police woman and watched a young customer's every move, especially moves from the hands to the pockets. He was a very odd fellow, a freshman (so he said) whose afternoon classes got cancelled (that's funny, everyone's on break until second semester starts in February... hhmmm). Anywho, he started shopping in the Tommy Hilfiger section, touching everything, and putting them on (even a $300 sports jacket!), and talking to himself and asking me the strangest questions and making very odd remarks. It was as if he didn't know what to buy, or even know his taste in clothes, so I thought he was just going to steal our most expensive items. With one of our sweater vests on and two more items in his hands, he went to the dressing room (with his bulky coat) and I was positive he would steal everything. So I made sure everyone else knew about him. He came out, brought 3 more items into the dressing room, then went to the bathroom wearing our merchandise--with water (?!?) splashed all over it! After the clothing incident, he went over to the flasks, cufflinks and other expensive gifts, etc... I was exhausted from being on high alert! Everybody just wanted him out! He finally purchased $300 worth of stuff and left. Whew! We all let our guard down and breathed a sigh of relief. It's hard being the surveillance and trying to do your regular job.
Wouldn't it just be easier to spend the money to fix our camera system?!? Gimme that or gimme a raise!

Yes. You deserve not only a raise, but a bonus!

At least he bought something. Would have been worse if he had made you do all that watching for nothing!! Maybe you should borrow a badge from a "certain someone" as it would give you more RESPECT! Haha.
