Four months!

Kent is now four months old and he's still a good baby. Yes, we had a rough patch over the last three weeks, but I think it was a combination of jet lag and maybe a growth spurt.

He weighed in at 13.8 lbs and he's now 23.75 inches long, still right on his same curve, so the doctor's happy. He suggested that we try rice, oatmeal and barley cereals between 4 and 6 months, but I'm not too sure I want to start that just yet. Kent is still floppy when you hold him and when he's in his chair or car seat, he often slumps over to the side. I'd rather wait until he has better head control.

Kent still loves baths and Daddy's guitar playing and now mirrors!
He smiles more and more and he's starting to chuckle a little. He's getting better and better at grasping things that dangle above him, or grasping things around him, like his pacifier or a blanket, and then shoving it in his mouth. His little hands are often red and rough from all of his chewing! I expect to see a tooth sometime this month?? As far as toys, he loves this one because when he hits the toys, the music plays.
Kent is very observant, whether he's looking at books, Mexican restaurant menus, or colors or people, but he doesn't like to sit for long. When he's in his chair, he'll kick his legs like he's going for a run--he's non stop wiggling!
He takes 3 one hour naps during the day and sometimes another catnap. An hour and a half after he wakes up, he's ready to snooze and he'll let you know by burying his face in your armpit or torso when you cradle him. Once he's in his crib with his pacifier, if he's still a little fussy, all you have to do is cup your hand around his cheek. He turns into your hand (nose to palm) and then hugs your hand with his hands or fists. It's the absolute most adorable thing ever. I will get a picture of this, I promise.

Meanwhile, he did great with the last minute nanny this week (she came here), and I hope he'll do the same with his regular nanny next week (he will go there). Fingers crossed. Luckily, he's done well with transitioning to formula and taking it from his nanny. I've only been giving him 4 oz at a time, but it looks like he could eat more, so I'll try more. Watch out for his burping though--he'll scream and thrash around if you try to burp him sitting down. As soon as you stand up, he calms right down and burps a stinky one right in your face.

I leave you with this picture that cracks me up: "Here Daddy, I'll tuck in your tag for you."
