Answered prayer!

Thank you for praying. Thank you also for your words of encouragement. I know this is just a phase and that Kent's sleeping habits will improve. I also know that *someday* I'll get more sleep.

Last night, he only woke up at 2:30 am to eat (and then at 6:30!). I woke up at 2 am because I was so engorged, so I had to pump a little. All of his night feedings have not been making the transition to formula very easy. But formula was a good decision on my part because today, for example, I couldn't go home for a 6 hour period, so there's no way that I could keep up my supply when I have such full days. Side note: I would love prayer that I wouldn't get mastitis during the weaning process. On Friday, I'll be at the gym from 3 to 5:30, then on cafeteria duty from 6 to 7, then dorm duty from 7:30 to 11:30, soooo how do you pump and/or breastfeed on days like that? My life is crazy.

At 5 pm today, I was dying for a nap, but Kent was awake and a bit tired/cranky himself so I was trying to keep his spirits up. Tonight is dorm duty, boo. I'm really, really hoping that if I give him a dream feed at 11 pm, then he won't need to eat until 6 or 6:30. Fingers crossed.

In other news, my classes today were a mess. I was all over the place and tripping over my words and wasn't clear with instructions and blanking on vocab. Luckily, my students are kind and they assume that life with a baby is difficult, so I think they cut me some slack. And fortunately, there's always tomorrow to undo today's teaching mistakes.

  1. I love that your students are giving you some grace and not taking advantage of you in this stage!! Praying for a smooth weaning process and good sleep for all. My women's group of grandmas prayed for you too and will continue...so you are not alone in this!! Hugs from the Nana

  2. I'll pray against mastitis! Yeah, formula was a lifesaver for us too. I hope the teaching gets easier and more automatic!
