Half way through

It's half way through the summer and I'm bummed. I avoid looking at the calendar these days. Matt starts his teaching class this Monday and continues until Labor Day. Luckily, all of his students voted for a 4 day week instead of a 5 day one so that means he'll teach a little bit longer each morning, but at least we'll have more flexibility on the weekends.

This summer, Matt and I don't have serious vacation plans so we're doing small dates such as:
--attend as many free events at local libraries and the university (film showings, lectures, music concerts, star gazing, etc)
--see as many kinds of live music performances as possible (free if possible, usually in cafes). So far we've seen classical (Schubert, Grieg, Faure, Schumann), rock (in Philly, a friend's cousin and her band called "sama dams") and folk (same concert in Philly, Catherine Feeny)
--float down the Delaware river on inter tubes (we just did this with a college friend, totally lovely)
--take a highlights tour of the art museum (also just did with Hans)
--lunch or dinner at the new restaurant in town
--try every restaurant in town (there are less than a dozen and we've probably been to half already)
--attend a rodeo
--see a demolition derby tractor pull
--camping
--trip to Boston to visit other friends
--VBS at our church (with 1st-2nd graders: how will I manage with these little people??)
--trip to San Diego to see Sarah, Max, William and Grandma!!

Hopefully the days will be loooonnnnngggg in these last few weeks.
