Well, why not?

Since we were closer to North Carolina from Virginia than from New Jersey, we planned to take a detour to visit my high school friends Betsy and Eric. It had been way too long since our last visit: Sophia was 6 months old and Jacob wasn't in the family yet!

Betsy cooked us some fabulous food and we had a great time just relaxing and catching up on life. Sophia is really grown up now. She has delightful facial expressions and when she cries she has the cutest frown and lower lip. I don't know how parents can discipline their kids when they're that adorable... But what a good girl she is! Jacob is sweet too at 3 months old and it'll be interesting to see his personality come out little by little. Meanwhile, it's fun to make him smile.

We didn't get many pictures because we tend to be too wrapped up in the moment, but here are a few that Matt took. Thanks Matt!
After dinner cleanup.
 Chatter, chatter, chatter!
 Photo bomb!
Jacob, you look so nice in your 3rd outfit of the day!
Girl time (no kids!) on our way to Maxie B's. Oh. My. Wish there was one near us. The cakes are fabulous, but the decor in the cafe was even better. Can it be??
 The guys.

While we were there, Sophia developed a little crush on Matt. On our first morning, Sophia looked around and said "everyone is awake except Matt". Then on our last day, Matt went in and out of the house to pack the car and Sophia kept asking "where did Matt go?" "is that Matt's car?" etc... When we got home, Betsy texted me to say that Sophia was asking for "Matt's car" to be there. So, either she's in love with Matt, or Old Gray.

I'm so glad we made the trip because I'll sure miss them in the two years that they'll be abroad doing missions work. What great friends we have. They really spoiled us, but that's their nature: so warm and inviting and caring and generous. I know they are and will be wonderful instruments in God's work. God bless you all!!

  1. Everyone grows up much too quickly! I'm glad you were able to visit. I noticed in one picture there was something growing on Eric's chest! Hugs, Mom
