Date day

Yesterday, Matt and I took a day trip to Lambertville, NJ and New Hope, PA--right across a bridge from each other.
Here's the bridge. Uh oh Matt, you may not want to cross...

They were super cute, quaint towns with boutiques, antique stores, cafes, restaurants, consignment shops and used book stores. The weather was perfect: crisp air with a full sun and blue sky! I still can't get over how much sunnier it is here compared to where we used to live. We went into almost every store, many of them being very girlie: antique stuff, decorative things for the home, consignment shops... Matt was a great sport, and I followed him into the used book store, which was more of a maze of stacked old smelly brown books, than a store. It had character, to say the least. I found a knitting book addressed to "Kristen." The author of the personal note went on and on about how much they loved her and were proud of her and how much of a teacher she already was. I guess Kristen did not reciprocate their love (?). I did not buy the book: I thought I was betraying the family. Surprisingly, Matt also walked out empty-handed!!

For lunch we went to a little Italian place over an Irish pub whose music was so loud you could feel it in the floorboards. We asked to be seated outside, and even though it was officially closed, the waitress gave us a little table in the sun. Delightful.
I wanted Matt to take a picture of us. Instead, he took a picture of himself.

Many hours, miles and two wedding parties later, we stopped at a French cafe. Right away, we noticed that the baker was speaking in broken English. A real French boulangerie (bread store)! It was difficult not to buy every single pastry and type of French bread, so we sat there and took it all in. I enjoyed hot coffee and Matt broke out Tagalongs (yes, those girl scouts got us!). Then the camera came out and, well, all I wanted was for Matt to take a picture of me with my coffee. He wouldn't listen. And here's what happened.
When I take pictures, I'm nice: I get good ones of him.

And here's me, threatening him.

We got to our car right on time!

And then I got Matthew back. Ha!

We ended out date day with a little home improvement, since we woke up to the thermostat reading 53 degrees. A new low. Matt put up the felt strips, and I put up the plastic over the windows. I thought it would be the tackiest thing known to man, but it's actually pretty easy and I can't even see it!
