Randy and Jan went home....

...and now life is boring and difficult again. We miss them already!!!

Oh how we loved their company and their help, whether with chores or with Kent. It was soooo nice to hand the morning bottle to my Mom while I had my own uninterrupted and leisurely breakfast. What a gift! Or when I'd come downstairs after putting him down for the night to find the livingroom picked up. It's the little things.

And the big things! Like the fact that they bought Kent a diaper cover that I had my eye on for months but couldn't justify another one. She didn't even know that I was coveting this particular one!! Eeeek the hedgehogs!! Great minds think alike.
Or when Mom and Dad took us out for lunch or dinner several times over the week just to spoil us. Notice Kent's new EZPZ mat (tray) at a local seafood restaurant. Happy early birthday from Papy and Nana! It's a life saver!!
Or when Mom helped distract Kent while I cut his hair.
Or when Dad gave Kent a bath and gave my dry hands a break.
What did we do together? Just that - a lot of together time. We did do some sight seeing too: around campus and town, to Plymouth, and to Newport Rhode Island.
Don't you love how Kent's cheek brings out the roundness in the pumpkins?
Kent wanted to cruise around the RI mansions in this, but I said no. He's even got the parade wave going.
Another restaurant in Plymouth because we love to eat.
At home between naps. Notice the rug that Matthew bought me. Isn't it pretty? Thank you sweetie!
New this week: Kent tried pizza and loved it. Like father, like son. Kent ate 3/4 of a zucchini in one day and loved it. Like mother, like son. Kent accidentally stayed standing for 3 seconds after he pushed himself away from Papa's leg. He was holding a toy and deeply contemplating it, so I don't think he noticed. It won't be long! Kent also slipped in the tub and smacked his cheekbone pretty hard on the spout (welt), so we bought a no slip mat. This kid hasn't sat for a bath since this summer, maybe around 8 months? He just stands up and walks and explores every ledge.

  1. So glad you guys had fun and that mom and dad were able to be such a help to you! That diaper cover is adorable!! And I love the rug - you were worried about the color, but it sounds like you love it too ;). My kids like pizza but with no cheese and no sauce... so basically triangle bread. (Sigh.) And Henry stands up in the tub all the time too! I've stopped fighting it. Hopefully the no-slip mat will prevent any more welts... Can't wait to see you in December! It sounds like Kent will be walking by then :)

  2. Oh how I miss you guys! We had so much fun with you and loved seeing a bigger more grown up Kent! Your view of the water is amazing and so calming. Loved being in the cold weather (well, to me it was cold!) and seeing all the fall colors. Such a great visit and can't wait for Christmas vacation and more time with Matt! XXOO Mom
