First Halloween!

Clark Kent got dressed this morning for work, looking very snazzy with his gelled hair and tie!
At 4pm, we joined hundreds - seriously, there were hundreds of people for a parade around 1 block in "downtown". I'm not even sure where we walked; we just followed the crowd of people. It was insane and fun to see so much creativity around us.
It was so overwhelming that I really took no pictures, even though the houses were all very cool, as were many carved pumpkins and quite adorably dressed kids and dogs. I said "trick or treat" for Kent and he grabbed a piece of candy once the parade was over. He took some yummy treats, but since they are all choking hazards, we had to confiscate and eat them all. Plus, he has perfect, beautiful teeth that sugar shouldn't destroy...

Amazingly, we met up with our French friends and their two boys, who were SO excited to experience this American cultural phenomena. I put a plastic cockroach in each of their buckets. One was a pirate and the other was a skeleton. I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture of them with Kent, since they are good buddies now. Ugh. That's what happens when you're in a sea of people moving you along, and then running after a hyper skeleton and pirate who are ooohing and aaaahing and trick or treating all over the place.
Superman!!
Once we got tired, they invited us over to their house to warm up by their fire. The trick or treaters continued to drop by, but most of them were preteens and just being annoying. We stayed so late that Kent didn't get his dinner until 7:30 (instead of 6) and we got him in bed after 8, instead of 7 pm. I guess that means we're going cold turkey on this daylight savings time thing!!

  1. What a fun community-wide event! One of the perks of living in a small town. Kent looks adorable! Easier to imagine him as he may look one day. How fun for those French boys to see this for the first time!! Oh, and good thing that candy doesn't bother adult teeth!! Sweet kisses from Nana
