Kent doesn't really stop moving until he collapses in a deep sleep. But it's not that deep because he's been waking 1-2 times a night for about a month now. Cold + teething + whatever else are the main ingredients in that recipe. Now that I'm healthy again, I don't mind the wake ups too much since it doesn't last long. Moving is usually crawling, but it's also pulling himself up, cruising along the couch (and bath tub ledge) or with his walker, and climbing stairs when he thinks he can get away with it. To get his energy out, I create pillow obstacle courses and "wrestle" with him.
He is a FAST crawler, and even faster when you chase him. He looooves being chased (you have to crawl too) and he loves to chase you as well. We play lots of peek a boo games on and around the bed: you lay flat on the bed and he crawls around trying to follow the sound of your voice. He pulls himself up and you squeal and then he squeals and melts into a piles of giggles. Matt likes to play "1-2-3 I see you" where he builds suspense on the 1-2 with his voice, then on the 3 he quickly turns his head to look directly at Kent - insert squeals and giggles!! Usually, Kent bursts into laughter on the 2. Kent is suddenly preferring Mama. This happened just after my parents left and it's super cute, but I'm not going to lie that my arms and wrists get tired. How much does he weigh? Only 21.6 lbs. He was 21 lbs two months ago. Strange, right? I thought he was 22 or 23 maybe. He's still plenty tall and wears 18 month pajamas and his toes hit the seams.
Kent has found the roll of toilet paper and so I made this. Mostly, he just wants to use the bar to do pull ups.
He loves touching my hair (hence the mom ponytail) and sometimes I deliberately run my hair over his face, which he looooves. So one day I gave him a (clean) make up brush and he kept it in his hand the rest of the afternoon. He also brushed his legs and feet with it a lot. So funny!
He's suddenly learned a clicking language and you can have entire conversations clicking back and forth with him.
When his naps are too short (or non-existent), the smallest things will set him off into giggles, like a funny word.
And when he's THAT tired, once he finishes that last drop of milk for his bedtime bottle, his whole body goes limp and he puts his head on your shoulder, breathing deeply. These are my favorite moments because the last time this happened was before he really got good neck control. His bedtime = my time, but I always rock a little longer because I love his warm neck against mine and I wish he could stay this little forever.

Ahhhh!! Too cute! Love all the pictures and videos. Can't wait to chase after him in person :). Great call on the makeup brush, too! And I'm in full support of extra rocking.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetie! I LOVED the "oops" video!! Kent's giggle and smile are soooo precious. You're right to savor those sweet cuddly moments, they are gone so quickly. Hugs from Nana
