It's cold here and we're tired of it. Everybody is, except the family in CA who has NO IDEA how tired we are of these temperatures, the snow, the gray skies, the wind.
Our car overheated on Friday when it was 1 degree. Yep, we were driving to town and the gauge shot up and the heat stopped working. It was all so bizarre, but luckily, the car didn't blow up. We pulled over every couple of miles (going 20 mph) to shut off the car and cool off the engine. When we finally got to a service station, they figured out that we had a coolant leak. Now Matt needs to order a new radiator.
We made plans with our friends to go to an ice sculpture festival, because that's what you do when you live in the arctic. It was a little warmer, near freezing this time. We can't let this cold keep us inside forever!!
There were fire pits to stay warm
A huge course for sledding.
This igloo that you could go inside of. Here are our friends.
A dog sled race. We missed this because Kent needed a diaper change and some lunch.
Ice sculptures to admire.
There were sculptures and ice snowmen that you could decorate.
Here we are in front of a dragon that spit fire.
It started snowing, so we headed home soon after. Don't worry, Kent was very warm under there and he slept through the whole festival.

Amazing what you do for fun in that climate!! Very creative and inventive. (We just chased seagulls away from our restaurant patio at the beach....sorry) So glad the car story wasn't worse....but what awful timing that was. Murphy's law I guess, whoever he is. Same guy that makes your air con go out when it's hot! Just think how wonderful the warmth will feel when it arrives!! Kent looks so sweet all bundled up! Warm hugs from Nana
ReplyDeleteAwww, man. Now I feel guilty about all the times I've complained this week when it was in the fifties! Glad to see you're making the best of it though!!! Oh and bummer about the car - glad you were able to stay safe :)
