It was
an easy decision to add Cassis to our itinerary. We couldn’t travel around
France without crossing off something from Matt’s bucket list: the Mediterranean
Sea!
I knew
about this gorgeous coastal port village from my school trip in March. Back
then, I didn’t get to appreciate it much because I was sick-sick-sick as a dog:
I passed out on the beach while everyone took a boat ride to the famous
calanques. Zero energy and hallucinations were all I could remember…. So I knew
it was best to re-visit the town in healthier times. Oddly, I was pregnant in
March (but didn’t know it) and showing a lot more in July!
Here are
a few pictures. Matt eagerly removing his shoes at lighting speed. Look at that grin!
The water was colder than expected!Look at these colors!
Here we are on the pier. Love the blue!
Then we hiked to the calanques, which are cliffs where the water has eroded the rock and created hundreds of inlets along the coast. We only had energy to get to one. It was a very steep climb and a looonng walk to get to tip of the cliff, and even then, we stopped before.
That night, we wanted to see the game France-Germany, but we couldn't afford didn't want to pay for an expensive dinner at the restaurants with big screen TVs. Plus, it was so crowded, making it too hard to see the game anyway. So we kept walking until we happened on a panini take out place that was 100% empty. Since it was the 4th of July, I ordered a great big burger and fries. We had front row seats!

What a gorgeous place! So glad you could go back and really appreciate it....and with the Hubby! XXOO Mom
