Band aids

You know when you're a kid and you have a boo boo, and your cool band aid means instant popularity with the crowd? "How did it happen? Did it hurt? Did you cry? Did it bleed a lot?"

Well, in high school, ice replaces band aids. Athletes walk around with ice taped to their arms or knees or ankles. They strut, sometimes wincing, just waiting for others to ask what happened.

On Thursday, I joined that group of celebrity athletes.

That's right, on day 2 of running practice, I already gave myself a hip flexor strain. I had the hardest time going up the three flights of stairs to my classroom and the 3 flights of stairs to my apartment. So I went to the athletic trainer. After he stopped laughing at my pathetic strain from 2 days' worth of exercise, he showed me some stretches and taught me about icing and heating injuries. He also said to rest (aka not exercise) until Monday. Hallelujah!!
