Transportation Issues

[Internet had been down for the week--much to blog about--read on]

Everybody knows that Matt loves to ride his bicycle: everywhere, at any time, and in any weather condition. I, myself, am too vain to get all sweaty, soggy, or windblown. However, with traffic the way it is in this town, and parking a nightmare, I decided to try out "the bicycle way". We had biked together to events on campus, but I had never ridden to work alone. So I tried it, and... I. loved. it. Sure, my leg muscles were jello-like, and yeah, I was pretty slow, and of course I sweat, but it was so much fun and so liberating!! I felt cool.

On my way home, I heard this continuous "sisssssssss" noise, and I kept looking back at my back tire thinking I was dragging a piece of paper or a leaf or something. Turns out, I accidentally biked over some glass and gave myself a flat tire. On my first day. Only me. Thankfully, the next day was a day off and I bought a new tube.

  2. I wonder if you'll change your mind in the dead of winter? In any case, good for you!!!! An added benefit, you make your Mom feel guilty to not use her bike!

  3. Oh, I KNOW I will change my mind come winter, (and when it's pouring rain) but for the days that I can, I bike. I'm going to try to push through as much as the frosty fall as possible. I will invest in some great gloves and bundle up. Of course, pumping your legs keeps you warm too. Go Mom! You'll feel great after a good workout on the bike! :) (says me who doesn't use her stair stepper because I go up and down stairs absolutely all day)
