My secret weapon

[Internet had been down for the week--much to blog about--read on]

I have a secret weapon. It's not a secret to people who know me, but only to strangers. Like customers.

There was this young French couple who came to the register to buy a single tee-shirt. They seemed like they were in a hurry, and so was I (there was so much to stock that day). I didn't go into how I was connected to France, because we were all in a hurry with this transaction. I rang it up, quickly placed the tee in the bag and said "have a good day!" They walked away and I heard the girl say (in French): "Can you believe it? Did you see that? She didn't even fold it! Gah!"

I was so offended, and so ready to explain myself, but I refrained.

Instead, I saw that they had left their camera on the counter, so I ran after them saying (in French): "Wait! Excuse me! You forgot your camera!" They turned, wide-eyed, said "merci!" and left the store.

Touche!
