It was really crummy weather on Friday, so I took Kent to the children's museum in Providence. The water room was closed that day for maintenance, so we found other things to do for two hours. The museum gave us 50% off our next admission for the trouble, so that made up for it. Here's a little snippet of what we did:
In the past, Kent spent a lot of time at this light up wall, pulling every peg out and putting it in the bucket. This time, he was over it pretty quickly. Maybe because he didn't have it all to himself.
He spent a lot of time sitting here and driving. I'm glad he wore his "bugodozer" shirt.
He hoarded magna tiles.
He learned to lock and unlock all of these. I stayed out of his way and he remained so focused on the job.
This was new: rubber bands on a peg board. He did these three himself and he was so proud. "Circles!" he exclaimed!
Then he pulled and snapped his fingers and thought it was the funniest thing he had ever invented. So he repeated it again and again. None broke surprisingly.
Some squash practice with Papa:
And a video for good measure. You can hear him say "picture?", "close da door" and "good job". You can see him half skipping, which is his new favorite trick.
Then we went to a Touch a Truck event right in town. Kent was FREAKED OUT by Sparky the Dog, the mascot. I mean, really weirded out. So we suggested he give him a bump and after that, forget the fire trucks, he just wanted to see where that Sparky had gone...
A demonstration to get dressed in all the necessary gear in under 60 seconds. Kent's like: Whatever, I don't like getting dressed. Let's drive a truck!
There was some climbing before driving.
Here we go.
They would have let us ride the bucket in the air, but it was so so windy that it was too dangerous.
Sparky. Not so sure about him. Didn't want to be too close for the picture...
Then we got to ride an old truck from 1937 and it stalled out at one point, but we made it back to the fire station in one piece.
Don't be deceived by the blue skies and the sunshine. The windy was whipping and the temps were in the low 50s. Brrrr!! Somebody light a fire!

Can't believe it's so cold there! And here I was worried that it was dipping into the low 70's over here ;). And I LOVE Kent's half skip!! Can't wait to see it in person!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute to see Kent running after his ball! If he freaks out over Sparky I hope Halloween goes well! I LOVE your bangs!! Can't wait to see you!!!!!!
