It hasn't been easy balancing spring term with motherhood. Luckily, all I have to do is get through the month of May. Whew.
I am grateful that Kent was in good hands at Julie's house while Matt was teaching on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We had a good routine going: the diaper bag was pre-packed with formula and clean diapers, Kent had his breakfast, playtime and the beginning of his morning nap when Matt transferred him to the car to go to Julie's. Those mornings are light teaching days for me, so it was ideal time for me to get school work done. But now that Matt's classes are over, and Kent is home full time, I'm finding it hard to get school work done. And I miss him terribly. So often, I'm not teaching when he naps, I teach when he's awake and eating, and I come home when he's napping a second time. Then I leave for gym duty just after he wakes up again. By the time I'm home for good, I've got maybe 90 minutes of the end of his day and we're all tired! The good news is: only one more week of gym duty!!
I'm glad that Kent's on a predictable schedule (and has been since late March): he eats at 7 am, 11 am, 3 pm, and 7 pm more or less. His morning nap is at 9 am for 1-2 hours, and his afternoon one is at 1 pm for 1-2 hours. That's made it easier for me to say "yes" or "no" to students who need me for extra help, but I'll be honest that I've accidentally stood kids up once or twice already because I can't seem to remember everything!
The French AP exam is next week, and after that we can relax and watch movies and do fun things that are super low prep. In my French 3 class, I'm pushing them to the end and getting them ready for their final in June. The nicer the weather is, the worse the behavior and work ethic.... but c'est la vie! That's the truth for students AND teachers!!!

How's Matt doing with stay-at-home-dad duty full time? It sucks that you can't see as much of Kent as you'd like :( That's gotta be hard! But what a relief that he's on a predictable schedule for you ... it sure does make things a whole lot easier! I'll be praying that this month flies by for you. Hang in there!!
ReplyDeleteMay will be over before you know it. Oh, and I remember that Mommy brain syndrome where you forget things. At least, I think I remember it!! You're almost there! Can't wait to see you XXOO Mom
