Winding down

This is the last week of classes. In one class, we're reviewing for the final exam (next week). In the other two, we're watching a movie and hanging out (seniors). Prom is this Thursday night (pray for good weather--right now they are calling for thunderstorms). On Friday, juniors and seniors get excused from classes (to rest from prom), which also means I have no classes!! On Saturday, seniors don't go to classes because they spend the morning practicing for graduation, and since my Saturday classes are senior levels, I get the morning off too!!!! (I LOVE MY SCHEDULE!) That night is Baccalaureate. Graduation is Sunday morning and I'm going to be all teary-eyed. The kids who are graduating are the freshmen that I started with. Sigh. Some of them I've taught for three consecutive years!

Well, I don't want to start getting all emotional now... In other news, last Sunday Matt joined me and my school to do a Bike Boogie. This time, the route was way easier and the students were not as athletic, so we made lots of stops (fine by me!). Our destination was a wildlife management park. It was beautiful!! Plus, we got back in time for the end of brunch: fresh berries, bagels, coffee, heaven. I'm really, really looking forward to the bike trip in June. I'll miss Matt a lot, but I'll have lots of stories to tell him and my parents when we vacation together. Sure, a bike trip with a bunch of sophomores is not everyone's cup of tea, but the beauty of the ride, the back roads of America, the camping, and sharing the experience with some of my colleagues will be so fun. I just hope there aren't torrential rains like last year. It was a monsoon.

If I can just muster up the energy and motivation to get all of my grading done, my comments written and faculty meetings over with, I'll be set to go!

  2. Yeah. This Senior Class will be very special for you, Shao-Shen. Your commentary brought back to my years in the classroom, both in CA and at BFA! So, so proud of you. Can't wait to see you both here on European Soil!
XOXO from your biggest fan, dad
