Meanwhile, in the back of my mind, I know that the busiest 3 weeks start tomorrow. We're in the last bit of our second trimester, with exams ahead (on my list of things to do), end of term comments (takes so long!), grading (neck-ache), end of term concerts, plays and events, and fundraising for the Dominican Replublic trip! It's going to be a full short month. I can't wait for March!
Thursday night is the International Food Fair at my school, which means that all these cultures from our school group together to cook a dinner. It's the students' favorite dinner. The French club is making desserts, naturally. We decided to bake crepes, eclair squares, madeleines and waffles. Because we don't live on campus, I've had to ask my colleagues if they'd be willing to open up their kitchens to us. I am so grateful to them even though they both told me they normally don't participate because kids don't clean after themselves. I promised them that won't happen with me in charge.
Thankfully I have about 10 volunteers, so I'm splitting them up into smaller groups. A) I will make three pans of eclair squares myself in my own kitchen.
B) one group will make a double batch of crepes
C) one group will make a double batch of madeleines
D) one girl who lives at home will bake the waffles
For my eclair squares.
Never underestimate the power of Nutella for crepe topping.
This may look like a logistical nightmare because we have 4 recipes going at the same time, in 4 different locations, and all of their ingredients coming from the same bulk bags and the same Club money.
--How? you ask.
--(chuckle) My middle name is Organized.
Watch and learn:
You start with a spreadsheet and a calculator. Then you shop.
Next, you divide the ingredients into baggies and label them.
(tupperware is to hold eggs; not shown is the milk divided)
Finally, you boast knowing that at least one thing is under control.

I'm very impressed! dad
ReplyDeleteI thought your middle name was Shao-Shen! What do I know!! I think if you ever want a different career you could be one of those "life coaches" who come in and organize other people's lives!!!! Love you.
