There is a professor of ethics named Singer here. He has some controversial views on the definition of life and also a more liberal view than most on animal rights. On Tuesday, he gave a talk over a nice vegetarian dinner in a local campus building. I was outside greeting the students with two bowls of raw chicken with the sweet aroma of sausage cooking on the grill. We had organized a welcome bbq for the incoming students, and the two events happened to coincide. Oops.
