Billy Graham?

In college, the professors were required to integrate a Christian worldview into their curriculum. In language classes this proved difficult, and invariable the professor would have us read Judges 12:6 in the target language. The passage describes the destruction of 42,000 Ephraimites who revealed their identity by an inability to pronounce the word "Shibboleth." It wasn't immediately clear what we were supposed to learn from this passage. Was our professor going to kill us? What about the French? What word will I have to master to pass through customs? I soon learned that having an accent would not get me killed, but only make me the target of a incessant jokes.

Apparently my professors influenced me much more than I had realized. In two days of teaching at the 101 level, I have made three references to Christianity: God, salvation, and Jesus: God while teaching the difference between familiar and polite forms of address, salvation when explaining the greeting "salut," and Jesus when teaching the alphabet ( the French "J" is pronounced as the letter "G" in English just like in the word "Jesus." It happened almost automatically. If I don't get fired, we might have an old-fashioned revival.

  1. Revival here we come!!!! I've been reading a lot of evangelism books lately. They said that just being real is the best way to win people. Great job!
