Picnic

Today was our Intervarsity picnic. Along with our own lunches, we made snack wraps filled with cream cheese, turkey, lettuce, shredded carrots and green pepper, each pegged with a toothpick. They went quickly.

Afterwards, we all played wiffle ball and had a great time. I almost sat out of the game, wanting instead to sit in my camping chair and soak in the rays, but since I could tell the organizers wanted a full team and more enthusiasm, I joined. I'm glad I did, even though my team lost. Matt's team won.

Now, I'm very bad at hand-eye coordination. And, I just don't have that much experience or practice anyway. Turns out, I didn't do as horribly as I had expected. I thought I'd swing out every turn, but I did in fact hit some and sprinted with every ounce of adrenaline in me. I also slid to first base once, right on my butt with one leg out in front of me and the other leg bent. I'm sure it looked pretty cool. Unfortunately, my left shoe no longer looks cool:

Once I made it to third base, but never home. :( When Matt's team was up, I caught the ball in the air and was so happy that I kept it and jumped up and down in delight rather than throwing it to second base where I could've struck out another player. Oops. And once I got tackled as a third baseman, and we both went down. No injuries. Matt, well, he tried.
