Over a year ago, I bought a Sony MP3 player as an alternative to the IPod, not that IPods do not work well, but I like to think of myself as special. All went well, until last month when it started to malfunction. The controls had a mind of their own. The volume would either not work or go to its maximum level. Sometimes it would turn on by itself and fast forward through a book.

As you might suspect, that got old really fast - particularly the volume thing. At the same time, I realized that my device was not compatible with the format of an audiobook I had recently purchased.

To summarize the story, I filed a claim to Sony using the insurance I had purchased with the MP3 player. They sent me a check in the mail - I had expected a replacement player- that I used to buy a something compatible with many formats. But now, the original Sony device works again.

Here's my question: Did God just help me commit insurance fraud?
