The dorm is empty now and it's quiet. Kent doesn't seem to be missing them too much. I thought he'd ask about them in the beginning or try to look for them, but I guess he must have understood that they are leaving for the summer and coming back later (we only went over it a dozen times!!). Some are leaving for good and he gave them big hugs. We dressed him up with his bow tie on prom day and he liked matching "da boys".
Meanwhile, he's been having fun bouncing on all of the furniture in the lounge and going in everyone's rooms. He's also using their mattresses as trampolines... We've had rain, rain and more rain, so what else was I supposed to do?? Today, it's FINALLY sunny and 70. Every other day was low to mid 50s and rainy. All of the sudden we're packing up our jeans and sweatshirts. YAY!!
Back in our house, it's chaos. For several days during exam week, we picked up boxes of textbooks and school supplies that kids left behind. Typically, this gets dumped into the trash and that's just not acceptable. We plan to re-distribute them in the fall and send the rest off as donations. Here's what used to be our hallway:
You can see on the lower right hand of the picture that we have an enormous amount of binders.... probably 100!
My view from the couch - boxes of desk lamps and sports equipment:
Not pictured on our kitchen table is a stack of perfectly clean lined paper 12 inches high. We probably have 800 note cards too. I have 4 plastic bags of pens, pencils, markers, crayons and highlighters. Soooo many highlighters. Matt and I joked that students must think "if I highlight enough, I'll learn it faster/better." Is that how learning works?

That's amazing that they leave so much behind! I'm especially surprised at the sports equipment and I guess you won't be wanting highlighters for Christmas! Kent looks so debonaire in his bow tie. So so glad it's finally warming up for you. Hurray for summer!! XOXOXO Nana
