Did you know that?
Last night was the second night we found Kent out of his room past his bedtime. I ran up the stairs because he started crying hard. I thought he had fallen out of his bed or something. Instead, he was in the bathroom standing on his step stool at the sink. The water was on full blast (stopper in) and there were bubbles everywhere. Turns out, he had opened the soap container and created quite a little bubble bath for his hands. He was sobbing: "I can't get the bubbles out! Can you help me get the bubbles out??" I desperately wanted to go find the camera and grab a picture of this, but he was so distraught and I didn't want to encourage this anymore. I did call for Matthew and he had a hard time keeping up his poker face. He scooped up the bubbles and dropped them into the tub "Like this, buddy?" and Kent's crying was appeased.
The previous night, it was even later when we heard a weak "Papa?". We wondered what excuse he had invented. We find him at the top of the stairs with a brush pick in his hands (so he had been digging in the medicine cabinet, from his step stool), and water down his shirt (he had helped himself to plenty of water). In the bathroom, he had pooped in his potty and then dumped it in the big toilet and dressed again (minus the wiping). Later that night, when he wet the bed, I made a mental note to hide all cups in the bathroom. And yet I was really proud of him for doing the right thing when nature called.
This morning, I heard him go the bathroom to pee (5:30) but I didn't see/hear him go back to his room. When I found him at the window, he said "It's morning! I'm watching cars!" I redirected him to his room to wait for the clock to tell him when it was okay to get up. It's hard to convince a toddler that it's not morning yet and that we're all still sleeping when the sun is up and the people are out. I'm afraid 5:30 sunrise wake ups are coming back...

Oh No!! Black out curtains? Immovable shutters to block out light? 5:30 is inhumane. The bubble story and all his night prowling cracks me up. Maybe there should be some kind of light/sound sensor that alerts you to his roaming.....or bells on him somewhere. Hope for your sake this does not last !!!!!!! Hugs from Nana
