Fun with family

These last three weeks have flown by!! It's been so special to have both of my parents here with us, and a last minute visit from my brother!! The last time we saw them was around Halloween and Kent was just getting the hang of sentences, so this time around there was so much change. He's such a chatterbox!! For example, once he was eating a snack at the table with my Dad and I came around looking for something -- quickly glancing around the table then in the hallway -- then I walked through the kitchen again when Kent piped up: "Are you looking for something?" Another time, my Dad rubbed his eyes and said he needed a nap when we got home, and Kent asked from the backseat: "Papy, are you tired?" This kid misses nothing.

Matt had to continue teaching the first two weeks of their visit, but since squash season was finally over, his afternoons were more relaxed.

We did some of the usual stuff like our toddler playgroup:

And Kent showed off his core strength to Nana at Kaleidoscope:

There were lots of times we went out to eat!! Kent, naturally, zeroed in on the guitar on the wall and requested to play it. We gave him pizza instead and here he is yumming it up.

We went to Woods Hole on a really really cold and windy day. We visited the science aquarium and walked along the pier as quickly as possible to somewhere warm. The staff fed the seals just as we were arriving.

Touch tank!! Kent was so short that he had to lean sooooo far to touch anything. You bet I had to hold onto him so he didn't somersault in!!

At home, Kent helped make muffins and wore his brand new apron from Nana and Papy.

We went to a ukulele festival on the Cape and Kent was in HEAVEN!!
And later, one of the ukulele players danced with him.

Matt and Dad played squash and had a lot of fun:

One day we went to a children's museum and one of the rooms was 100% music themed. Kent dominated the piano in the background, then he moved on to the drums for a loooooong time. Everyone knows how much he loves music, but it was especially surprising and heartwarming to see him willingly give other kids a turn when they came up to him.
I've never seen this at a museum before but there was a whole room for gym equipment, including a treadmill.

My brother overlapped with us for a weekend, just before we left on our own vacation. It was so great to see him, but I'm sad to say we got very few pictures together. It was so nice to hang out and catch up. He got to explore the area here and grab some awesome pictures of the snow, the angry sea, the bleakness of this winter-spring between-ness. Kent loved interacting with him!
On this particular day, it was FINALLY sunny but it was still bitter cold so we took a scenic drive along the Cape and had a fabulous lunch there. Matt stayed home with Kent so we wouldn't be constrained by naptime. I think they both napped :)

And of course, there was lots of music playing and singing with conductor Kent!
Lots of snuggling during these freezing temperatures.
Reading: the perfect indoor activity.
 And watching basketball together.
And more eating out!

Nana and Papy, you spoil us so much!!

  1. So glad you got that video clip of dancing with the ukulele lady! She was a hoot! The time passed so quickly! I am so so glad to have had Kent all to myself. Can't wait until the next time! Thanks so much for all you did for us. Big hugs from Nana.
