Kent is 1 month old!

Kent is 1 month old. Where did time go? No, wait. Has it really only been 1 month? I've seen more of each 24 hour day than I've ever cared to in my life... oh, the sleep deprivation.... But it's been so worth it. How do you not love this sweet face?
Kent is a calm baby--pretty easy going about everything. He doesn't often cry but he does have his fussy evening time. Kent doesn't mind getting his diaper changed; in fact, I think he likes getting all cleaned up. He likes being swaddled: he graduated from the hospital swaddling blankets to his Halo Sleep Sacks which are more like straight jackets. We love how he looks like a little burrito when he's all wrapped up.

Kent makes squeaky noises and little grunts: he's becoming quite the conversationalist! Here's a video from Christmas day--he was lying under the tree, enjoying all of the beautiful lights that Grandma Pat and Grandpa Fred put up.

When Kent wakes up in the morning, or from a long nap, he yawns and stretches like he's the laziest boy in the world. He stretches and arches his back and moves his body in slow motion, yawning all the way. I need to get a video of it!

Kent has had a few sponge baths and a few real baths, but most of all, he loves getting his hair washed. His facial expression shows pure satisfaction when you run warm water over his head and rub soap in small circles. He's in heaven.

Luckily, Kent takes a pacifier, which is a great way to soothe himself if he hasn't already found his fist. Here's one of my favorite videos of Kent hanging out on Daddy's chest.

When he eats, he holds his hands together. Sometimes when he sleeps, he'll put his two fists right by his cheeks.

On the other hand, Kent doesn't like us pulling and pushing his limbs through leg and arm holes to get dressed or undressed. He's not all that patient when it's time to eat and Mommy's not ready. When he says "now," he really means now. In the past week, Kent has been sleeping GREAT: 5 to 6 hours at night, then a feed, then another 2-3 hour stretch before morning. It's been glorious!!!

A whole month has gone by and he's weighing over 9 pounds already. He's going to get bigger and stronger and I'm going to miss these sweet little hands.

  1. One month already! I can hardly believe it! He looks so sweet and content. What fleeting special days when he is so small. You are so blessed to have a good sleeper! Wow! I miss him so much and seeing you as a new Mom was so great. I bet Pat and Fred are thrilled to have him there. Missing you, Mom

Glad you documented this one!! Everything about him is so adorable. Love all of his coos and squeals and precious little fists. AND THAT BOWTIE! Wish I could reach through the screen to hold him :).
