I am so OVER this winter. Spring, where are you?!?!? Here in NJ, we have the BEST springs. Since we have so many sunshine days, it doesn't take long to get to that perfect 68-70 degree day with a bright blue sky, flowers everywhere, budding trees with new fresh green leaves and a full high sun. Instead, there's sun, blue sky and ice air. Tomorrow it will snow. SNOW. Uuugghh. I'm so done.
In other news, I barely survived last week: I can't tell you how exhausting it is to hit the ground running and get over jet lag and pick up all of the responsibilities plus more. I'm writing from the boathouse, as the crew team has to row in the ice air and on 32 degree water. On Saturday, the wind was so bad that the boats came back with lots of water swishing around. When they take the boats out of the lake, they swing it over their heads and bring it back to the storage hangar thing. Well, as you can imagine, 32 degree water just poured right over them all. Poor things.
On Sunday, Matt and I took the most amazing 1.5 hour nap after church. Totally by mistake too. Matt freaked out when he only wanted to close his eyes for 15 minutes. I was 100% happy with my decision, and I plan to nap more. Why fight fatigue?
Tomorrow is international awareness day, which means classes are cancelled and instead, teachers and student presenters do culture sessions for the student body. The whole school signs up for 3 thirty minute classes and they have fun!! My session is on the art of making perfume. I was inspired by the Fragonard perfumery we visited over spring break. I will talk about the history of perfume, the family of perfume, the process of making it... and then we'll make some!! Granted, it'll just be blending of essential oils with a base oil, but it'll be fun and my classroom will reek of jasmine for a week. Every student will go home with a little vial of his own!
The rest of this week is pretty ordinary, except that I have duty this weekend and next. No problem though, because Matt will be out of town at some conferences. Good luck sweetie!
