Vacation

Ooohh, how I love vacation.

The dorm is 100% empty and quiet since Friday morning.

The lounge and big screen TV is 100% ours and available. We watched The Godfather at full volume.

Even though Matt still has to teach, I've been sleeping in until 8!

On the down side, the cafeteria is closed so we have to fend for ourselves.... so Friday night we got take out from a Jamaican place in town.... then Saturday morning Matt said "let's go to Teddy's!!". Why would I say no to that?!? I think we skipped lunch. For dinner, I had to bust out the pots and pans and we had spaghetti. Thank goodness there was something in the pantry!

I realized we still had some of my mother-in-law's rhubarb, so I made a crisp. That might have been Matt's lunch one day....

Matt's been working on his dissertation. He finished another chapter. The number of pages for that one is higher than my I.Q. He's researching/planning his conference papers in the spring. He's been watching a lot of football games too. Last week, we went to the Princeton-Yale game where we absolutely CREAMED them. It was like watching them win over a middle-school team. Last night, the university had its bonfire to celebrate the Harvard + Yale sweep. It was 26 degrees and while we may have lost some of our toes, it was totally worth it. The fire was HUGE. The pep band played all kinds of fun songs and the crowd ate kettle corn and drank hot chocolate and cheered "Harvard sucks!"

In other news, I redid our filing system because it had been screaming for help for much too long. Now, we'll be all set for tax season and we'll stop loosing things.... ahem.

I also reorganized our closet/storage space (which is minuscule) to make room for a small REAL LIVE Christmas tree which we plan to get this year. I only want a short one, a table top one, really. It will smell divine. I can't wait.

And for my greatest joy, for the first time since August, I brought out my sewing machine!! Now that I finally time time to think about Christmas gifts and projects, that's all I've been working on lately.

Tomorrow, we leave town to be with Matt's family and we can't wait! It'll be great to see everyone again, especially the kids who will be already more grown up than several months ago. And to meet little Zach, nephew #8. It'll be a full house!
