Men and women count points differently, so they say. For a guy, all items are worth different points: a note left on the counter? 1 point. a dozen roses? 20 points. a weekend getaway? 1,000 points. For a girl, all gifts are just about equal. This is problematic because most girls need ongoing, regular points, a consistent stream of love in different forms, whereas men think "that was like 500 points. I'm good for while." Marriage books also say that anticipation for something is almost as good (or better?) than the actual gift or event.
So we went to Philadelphia today for a special date. It's been on the calendar for a while, and I've been so excited. We ate at Monk's for mussels and fries. Then we walked all around the Christmas market village but didn't find a nativity scene afterall. There were so many other beautiful ornaments and gift ideas and food vendors though. Our toes and noses turned to ice so we went to Starbucks for a gingerbread latte. Then we went to Sephora, because, why not??
Here is the Christkind from Germany. She's the one who brings Christmas gifts to kids. Before and after she did a little speech, there was a German choir and a marching band.
All in all, it was a great day in the city. Such a beautiful city around the holidays. It's crazy to think we almost lived there for Matt to go to UPenn. What a different life we would have had....

What a fun day! Bravo! XOXO dad
ReplyDeleteLooks like a real European Christmas market! Figures there would be a "Queen" but no nativity. I'd say your date day is worth mega points, Matt. But don't stop! Either one of you! Wish I could have shared the latte with you, but not the cold noses and toes. Love you, Mom
