Today is Head's Holiday AND Valentine's Day... could it get any better than this??
Every year, the headmaster decides to call a holiday and cancel classes and all requirements. No one knows when it'll be (but it's usually sometime before senior thesis is due), not even teachers. He usually announces it in a dramatic way, but he always teases us a couple of days ahead of time: like getting up on stage for an announcement, and announcing the weather or something. So yesterday, there was a "reverse evacuation drill" into the chapel and everyone cheered. That night, there were movie shuttles and pizza! For two hours, I drove to and from the movie theater for drop offs.
Today, Matt surprised me with a giant bag of peppermint patties! He also bought Pillsbury cinnamon rolls which were ready in 10 minutes (sometimes pre-made is so worth it)! For lunch, we went to an Ethiopian restaurant and it was delicious! For dessert, I made strawberry cheesecake mousse... so good!
We both worked the rest of the time. In fact, so many students had final papers to write and all of us teachers had tons of grading to catch up on. Next week is the last week of teaching, then finals week, then SPRING BREAK!!!!!
I made Valentine's day treats for my dorm girls last weekend (dorm duty) and they loved them. I made hot chocolate, I served strawberries, and I made Valentine's day puppy chow (not my pic).
What's Valentine's day treats without chocolate-covered-and sprinkled pretzels?!?! I love how pretty they were too (I used jumbo pretzels).
And for a savory option, I call them "mini cupids"!
I spent way too much time on all of these treats, but I loved it. And so did the girls.
Hope you all had a fun Valentine's day too!
